Running
Shoe brands have a vast array of running shoe models suitable for those engaging in anything from athletic walking through to high mileage running. Most of these models exist to provide a combination of postural support and fitting variations such as broad or narrow feet. All of the brands have some great shoes in their range. We carefully select only the best models each season from each of the brands making sure we have a strong representation of shoes for the variety of feet and their size, function and shape. Our goal is to ensure that you are in the correct model for your foot posture and activity, regardless of the brand.
The best method of determining which shoe is most appropriate for you is by having your foot assessed in action at your normal walking or normal running speed by staff specifically trained in podiatric gait analysis. Only then will we recommend the shoe that is right for you. The shoes we select for our daily use whether it be for training, sport, casual wear or travel are critical both in terms of comfort and performance but especially in the maintenance of good foot posture and foot health in the long term. This is an essential part of the service we give at active feet and we perform this at no extra cost.
Purist
‘Free running’, ‘natural running’, ‘minimalist running’ & ‘barefoot running’ are all terms that are flooding the marketplace. Each of the shoe companies make claims to have the best blend of shoe options to capture the ‘benefits’ of more minimal running or to assist in a more efficient running form.
At active feet, we have spent many months researching & testing the enormous range of shoes in this category, with runners, walkers and our experienced Podiatric team.
The result is a selection that captures all of the above terms, delivering a range of shoes that can benefit those choosing to wear the shoe casually through to the elite runner.
Our range is called purist.

Sport Specific
Our sport specific range is made up of a combination of Cross-trainers, Netball shoes, Tennis shoes and Football boots.
Netball shoes, Cross-trainer’s and Tennis shoes are all designed to provide cross directional support for sports that encompass recurring lateral movement. Their aim is not only to provide cushioning and comfort, but to decrease the risk of injuries related to multi-directional sports for example lateral ankle sprains.
Our football boots can be used for Aussie Rules football, Soccer, Rugby League, Rugby Union and other turf sports. Our range supports those seeking protection, support, performance and speed.
Tech Walking
‘Tech walking’ is a category born from the need for a daily stable, cushioned and versatile shoe.
Our ‘Tech walking’ shoes include a variety of gore-tex lined, full grain leather and daily motion control shoes, as well as some supportive summer options. They have been selected to provide optimal support for your feet in a range of environments & terrain. We have all aspects covered from city streets, daily load, travel, weekend wear, trail walking and hiking.
If you have a requirement for supportive cushioned shoes beyond your ‘white sneakers’, then this is the category for you.
Come and talk to our experienced Podiatric staff to assess your ‘tech walking’ shoe requirements, and let your feet experience the benefits.
Review your shoes
It is important to review your foot posture before you purchase new shoes, for a couple of reasons:
- Your foot posture can change with fitness, technique and weight change.
- Shoe structure and fitting often change on a 12 monthly basis, even though they will retain the same name. Failure to reassess means you are not controlling all the variables that underpin injury.
Don’t invest in new shoes until you have had your FREE reassessment. This includes your current footwear, your activity levels, recent injury history and of course your gait. Come and see us for a full review of your gait and footwear needs.
